Word to Excel Converter
Pull the tables out of a Word document and get a real .xlsx workbook. Rows, columns and cell text stay editable — no copy-paste from Word, no upload.
Drag and drop a .docx, .docm, .dotx or .dotm file here
or click to browse — up to 20 MB on desktop, 10 MB on mobile
No file selected
- Every table in the document, in order, extracted into one worksheet.
- Editable cells — the .xlsx opens in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets or LibreOffice.
- Readable spacing — a blank row separates consecutive tables.
- Merged cells expanded into a grid so no data is hidden behind a merge.
Word to Excel extracts tables only. Paragraphs, headings and images are not included — use Word to CSV or Word to Text for those. If the document has no tables, the tool will tell you.
The .docx is parsed locally. Nothing is uploaded, and the .xlsx is built in this tab.

The basics
What is Word to Excel conversion?
Word tables are convenient for presentation but awkward for analysis. Excel wants a rectangular grid: one row per record, one column per field. This converter finds each table in the .docx, flattens merged cells into a consistent grid, and writes the rows into a worksheet.
Multiple tables in the same document are stacked into one sheet, separated by a blank row. That keeps the output easy to scan and easy to split with filters or formulas once it is in Excel.
Best for workflows like:
- • Moving a price list or specification table out of Word
- • Turning a report table into a spreadsheet for analysis
- • Extracting a data appendix from a policy document
- • Rebuilding a table so it can be sorted and filtered
- • Archiving Word tables in a structured format

Answers
Word to Excel FAQ
Is this Word to Excel converter free?
Yes. There is no account, watermark or per-file limit.
Is my document uploaded?
No. The .docx is unzipped and parsed inside your browser tab; nothing is uploaded or stored.
What happens if the document has no tables?
The conversion stops and explains that this tool extracts tables only. Use Word to CSV for table data, or Word to Text for the whole document as plain text.
Are paragraphs and headings included?
No. Word to Excel is deliberately tables-only, so the worksheet stays a clean grid rather than a mix of paragraphs and cells.
How are merged cells handled?
They are expanded into a rectangular grid. The value stays in the first cell of the merge and the covered cells are left empty, so columns stay aligned.
Are multiple tables included?
Yes. All tables are written to one worksheet in document order, separated by a blank row.
Does it preserve formulas or cell colours?
No. Word tables do not contain spreadsheet formulas, and colours or fonts are not reproduced. The output is values only.
What is the file size limit?
Up to 20 MB on desktop and 10 MB on mobile. Very large documents take longer because the whole file is parsed on your device.
